Sue earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism and had a 45-year career working at community newspapers, including two newspaper in Texas and 30+ years at the Star-Journal in Warrensburg prior to her retirement in May 2019. During her career, she covered city and county government, school boards, law enforcement and courts, civic organizations and their events, agriculture news plus various feature stories.
A native of Kirkwood, MO, Sue moved to Texas after graduating from journalism school and returned to Missouri in late 1987 to take a job at the Star-Journal. She is co-owner of a small farm and cattle operation run by her sister and brother-in-law in Willow Springs, MO. She owned and rode horses for more than 40 years, but now is out of the horse business. She lives with several rescue cats in an old farmhouse on about 3 acres, just outside Warrensburg.
As a reporter, Sue covered this organization when it was first Habitat for Humanity and during its transition to the Fuller Center for Housing. When asked why she chose to become a Fuller Center board member, she replied that she admires Fuller Center’s mission of providing affordable and decent housing for people who cannot qualify for a mortgage or home repairs due to their financial situation.
